The Links on this page will include any links I find to Mental Health agencies and organizations in Pennsylvania.  some organizations are cross-disability organizations that include multiple types of disabilities and may include but are not limited to both physical and mental health.  As always, if you know of any sites that I’ve missed, feel free to send them for possible inclusion here.

  1. I am looking for some type of full time living facility for my 23 year old step son. He is currently incarcerated as a result of what happens when he doesn’t take his medication for his schizophrenia. He is court ordered not to return to our home because he hurt his father,he was labeled a fire starter when he was 13 so I am having a hard time placing him . The prison will not release him until he has a place to go, I am at my wits end and do not know where to turn. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  2. nsightful thoughts here. Are you certain this is the best way to look at it though? My experience is that we should pretty much live and let live because what one person thinks just — another person simply doesn’t. People are going to do what they want to do. In the end, they always do. The most we can yearn for is to highlight a few things here and there that hopefully, allows them to make just a little better informed decision. Otherwise, great post. You’re definitely making me think! –Barry

  3. I am looking for information about Allentown State Hospital. I had a great aunt who was there in the late 1930′s and who I believe died there in the early to mid 1950′s. I’m doing research for a book I want to write that tells her story (at this point don’t know if it will be non-fiction or if I’ll have to make it a novel due to inability to gather enough factual history. I don’t know if it is possible for me to access records, but if anyone out there knows about this, I’d appreciate hearing from them!

    Thanks.
