This April 12, 2015 article on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette talks about NFL player, Brandon Marshall’s effort to decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness by using his NFL career as a platform to do so. He got fined over $10k for wearing green shoes during a game he played that occurred during Mental Health Awareness week, and has a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder so when it comes to mental health issues, he has lived experience but hopes to turn what is often viewed as a negative into a positive by helping others so maybe they won’t have to keep struggling with not on;ly their illness, but the way society treats them because of their illness.

This January 28, 2013 article on the tribdem.com website talks about the decision made to close the NAMI office in Cambria county. Lack of funding is cited as the reason for closing despite their fundraising efforts.
Someone asked me to cite the link for this article, so here’s my attempt at citation which isn’t a strong point for getting everything in to it that should be in a citation, but it should be enough to be helpful I usually have to look up citation but in this case I went off the top of my head so I apologize if I missed something, but I believe I got the core components in place 🙂
