This January 6, 2015 Feel Guide article talks about ongoing research that seems to point more towards depression being caused by inflammation then what was thought before.  The article estimates that researchers are estimating they are about 5 years away from developing a blood test that will allow them to test for depression based on inflammation.

This January 5, 2015 Nova Next article on the PBS website talks about ongoing research that seems to show that it is possible that treating depression with an anti-inflammatory medication in addition to standard medications, may be a better approach since it’s possible that depression may be caused by inflammation.

“Systemic Inflammation Linked To Depression and Psychotic Disorders”

This August 13, 2014 Medical News and Research article talks about a possible link found between inflammation and Depression and Psychotic disorders.  It is felt that there is a possibility that an increase in inflammation in kids could be something to keep an eye on as an indicator of an increased risk of developing depression or a psychotic disorder.

This March 12, 2014 post on the MedicalResearch.com website talks a little about recent findings that seem to show a link between inflammation and the risk of having PTSD.  While scientists aren’t clear on why this connection exists, they do feel that there is definitely a connection between inflammation and PTSD.
