This January 26, 2015 Health Day article found on the Philly.com website talks about a program that aims to reduce work-family conflicts that is showing promise in helping to increase the amount of sleep participants get which in turn seems to be helping improve work and home performance.

This August 25, 2014 NPR: Shots article talks about concerns being raised that start times for middle and high school should be at 8:30 or later to help teens get adequate sleep. Pediatricians point out that teens need between 8-1/2 and 9 hours of sleep, and that the majority of teens are not able to fall asleep before 11pm, not so much because of distractions in their bedroom, but because that’s how teens are wired.

This August 15, 2014 Health Day article found on the Philly.com website talks about a recent study that seems to show that workers who are exposed to natural light or a comparable artificial light source seem to do better with regards to having a regular sleep pattern and overall having better quality of mental health than those who were working in windowless work places with artificial light that was less comparable to real sunlight. They feel more research is needed into this, but at this time are suggesting that architects find ways to include natural light in their designs not just to aid in keeping lighting costs down, but to also potentially improve the mental health of those who will be spending time in the building when it is completed.
