This September 12, 2014, Newsworks article, talks about signage being put n place in Montgomery county to help prevent suicides.  The signs encourage people in need of help to call the National Suicide prevention hotline.  While the article does say that there is no way to quantify the effectiveness of the signs, they do know that other places who have posted similar signs have seen a decrease in the number of suicides on bridges, so while no exact number is available, it is felt that offering information to the public does help with preventing suicides.

This March 28, 2014 article talks about the passion for helping others seen in one of a handful of people to survive jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.  His passion is to reach out to those in their 20’s to encourage them to seek help if they are feeling suicidal or otherwise in need of mental health treatment.

This article dated March 24, 2012 on the AltoonaMirror website, talks about a group in Central Pennsylvania that works to raise awareness about suicide prevention, but also offers hope to the friends and family members of someone who commits suicide.
