This January 27, 2014 article found on the NewsWorks website talks about documented links between concussions and depression in teens.  They aren’t clear why this link is seen, but they do feel it happens a lot.

This October 25, 2013 article on the Philly.com website  talks about recent research that seems to show an increase in the diagnosis of depression among kids and teens who have had head injury. Researchers are unclear though if the brain injury caused the depression or if symptoms of depression may have been a factor into the cause of the injury.  It does seem though that teens with a brain injury seem to be between 2 and 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with depression as compared to the overall national average according to the article.
