“Battle Lines Form in the Fight Over Social Security Payment Reductions”

This August 5, 2015 MSN Money article talks about the impending crisis involving the money in the SSDI program drying up by the end of 2016.  The article includes a few ideas being tossed around for correcting the problem or at least for buying time until a solution can be found.  The article indicates that less than 1% of the social Security tax paid by employees goes into funding SSDI compared to over 5% going into retirement. One idea in the article is to increase the percentage of the Social Security tax by a couple of percentage points to increase the amount of money going into the disability fund.

This November 19, 2013 blog post found on the Healthy Place website talks about three things that people are likely to not be aware of when it comes to receiving Disability, and odds are won’t think about unless they or someone they know is in a place where they need to apply for disability.  The exception being people who work with the disabled providing care or other services to them and other similar people.

Here’s a link to a new publication just posted on March 17, 2008 on the National Council on Disability website.  It’s quite lengthy and not specific to Pennsylvania, but for those who are working on better housing options for folks with Psychiatric Disabilities, it could be useful since it’s packed with ideas and other relavent information.
