“Living with anxiety is hard, but there are coping mechanisms”

This May 18, 2014 article on The Guardian website talks about what it is like to have an Anxiety Disorder and offers the hope to those with anxiety disorders that there is a possibility that they can begin to recover from their illness and lead a life similar to what someone without an anxiety disorder might experience.  It takes a lot of work and patience on the part of the person with the illness and having folks around them who are compassionate and understanding, to act as a support, is always helpful regardless of the type of mental illness a person may be experiencing

This May 14, 2014 Disability Scoop article talks about a recent study that seems to sho that people with Autism Spectrum Disorder are more prone to chronic diseases including but not limited to obesity and hypertension.  The study also found that the number of people with Autism who smoke was lower than what is found in the population of people who do not have Autism.

“Stimulant treatment for ADHD may also reduce smoking risk”

This May 12, 2014 article found on the MNT website talks about a possible link between treating kids who have ADHD with stimulants and a decreased risk of starting smoking.  While researchers aren’t clear on why this connection exists and feel more research is needed to figure out the link, they do feel there is some connection between the two things even if they don’t understand it yet.
