This Breaking Ground segment was found on December 29, 2014 and talks about something most of us don’t even think about …. the question of what do Military Kids go through while their Military Parent is deployed or the family has to move because of orders received by the parent to report for duty at a different place?  It’s worth reading, and offered some insight for me into a world I know little about.

This March 14, 2014 Health Day article on the Philly.com website talks about children who have experienced the loss of a parent.  The article suggests that help for kids should include not just psychological help in the form of play therapy, but should also look at support for academic success.

“Is Grief a Mental Illness?”

This May 16, 2013 blog post on the AARP blog talks about the controversial change to the DSM that would include grief after the loss of a loved one as a form of mental illness.  The post also discusses briefly some of the other changes that are highly contested such as binge eating and Asperger Syndrome, but the main focus is on grief in this particular post.
