This January 21, 2013 article on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette website talks about how one doctor switched gears from researching how to treat illness and started focusing on how to prevent illness 30 years ago.  His focus is on stress and how to better manage it since stress is a lead culprit in contributing to the cause of some serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity to name a few.
