“Lebanon County: Budget cuts trickle down to 200 local citizens”

This July 19, 2012 article on the Lebanon Daily News website talks about the new reality faced by Lebanon County as a result of the recently passed state budget.  They feel it will directly impact at least 200 people who receive services there, some of which may lose services unless something can be found in the way of another source of funding.

This article dated May 29, 2012 on the Delaware County Daily Times website talks about what the effect will be if Corbett’s budget cuts go through.  This article echos concerns I’ve being hearing other places indicating that if human services loses 20% of its budget the result could be more expensive than the savings the supports of the cuts claim would occur.  People who lose community based services will end up seeking out services in other place which could be emergency rooms or other inpatient treatment, other possible outcomes could include an increase in homelessness, and an increase in the number of mentally ill inmates in the corrections system.

This article found on readingeagle.com, and dated January 21, 2012 offers one person’s view about the recent change in name of the Berks County Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities agency which was formerly known as Berks County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Services.
