This info was found on the Community Legal Services of Philadelphia website I just spotted it on October 25, 2012 so if you are reading this after October 26, 2012, the info in the excerpt may have already occurred, but this indicates that there could be a glimmer of hope for folks who lost their Medicaid.

This August 24, 2012 article on the RepublianHerald.com website indicates that 30 counties have applied to be part of the state’s trial program for the human  services block grant.  The article doesn’t include all the counties that applied, but does show that only 20 counties will be selected for the pilot program.

This article dated June 29, 2012 on WITF.com discusses the 30 extension for folks in Pennsylvania on General Assistance.  recipients should be able to receive cash assistance until the end of July with August 1, 2012 being the new date for the elimination of the program.

This article was about 7 hours old when I posted it here, it is dated June 25, 2012 and found on the Philly.com website.

I had known it was something at risk, but hadn’t heard it had been eliminated until I got up this morning and happened to be talking to a couple of my neighbors who are among those directly effected by the elimination of General Assistance.
