This Breaking Ground segment was found on December 29, 2014 and talks about something most of us don’t even think about …. the question of what do Military Kids go through while their Military Parent is deployed or the family has to move because of orders received by the parent to report for duty at a different place?  It’s worth reading, and offered some insight for me into a world I know little about.

This December 28, 2014 The Times Herald article talks about a group that meets every couple of weeks and consists of people who have been in treatment for mental illness.  the group focuses on getting together to have fun, socialize and feel a sense of belonging to a community that is something people with mental illnesses tend to struggle with.  The atmosphere is one of acceptance.

This November 7, 2014 NewsWorks article talks about a pilot program in Delaware County, PA that is working with people with mental illnesses using self-directed care that offers them more choices about the services they receive.  The person can say this service isn’t working for me, but I think this over here might be a better fit to meet my needs, and the money from the program is shifted to allow for the change in service.

This October 24, 2014 NewsWorks article talks about an approach to treating people who hear voices that goes against the traditional thinking of not discussing the voices with the person.  The program is being used in Philadelphia.
