“‘Welcome to My Breakdown’ explores depths of depression”

This May 9, 2015 Tribune correspondent piece on the Philadelphia Tribune website is a review of a book I thought looked interesting.  I haven’t read it myself, but the review seems to show it is a memoir about how Depression took control of one woman’s life and how she made it through to the other side.  I’m considering reading it myself and thought maybe someone else might find it interesting as well.

This October 24, 2014 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article talks about a change to Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program that will affect about 90,000 women.  The article includes details about what women can do to  make sure they continue to receive coverage for female health needs.

This August 7, 2014 Pocono Record article talks about efforts being made to better meet the needs of female Veterans in the VA.  Women are advocating for more female specific services in an administration that has been setup with a focus on the medical needs of men.  The article suggests there may be a lack of OB/GYN services in the VA and the not all of them offer this which means women either don’t receive basic care or have to travel further for basic gender based care then their brothers-in-arms would for their gender specific care.

This article and video were found on BuzzFeed’s website, and offers a glimpse into some of the history behind the right women have to vote in the USA.  Alice Paul and her efforts to get women the right to vote are depicted with a modern spin in this parody of Lady GaGa’s song “Bad Romance”

This article was found in the March 13, 2011 post on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.  The article discusses some of the issues specific to women in prison particularly those with mental illnesses.
